Fun Science Facts in Billboard Ads

28 November on ADVERTISING, GRAPHICS, IDEAS, POSTERS, PRINTS   Kids and adults these days spend most of their time in front of the computer. With information readily available on the World Wide Web, people often choose to stay glued to their seats all day long. This leaves some of the most favorite tourist spots (e.g. museums) of the past empty and almost forgotten. To bring back these once lively places to life, the Science World Museum in Vancouver created brilliant billboard ads to promote science right on the street. The ads included funny, witty and sometimes gross information on humans, animals, and all things about science. Through a clever mixture of humor and science, kids and adults alike can’t help but stop, read, and be awed of the bizarre facts they just read. Now who said traditional advertising is dead? Billboards, business cards, and direct mail postcards are still effective and reports that they are dead are highly premature. Business owners still flock PrintPlace.com and other commercial printers just to get business cards, postcards, etc. printed. And with the exquisite use of billboards of the Science World Museum, traditional advertising is set for a bright future. Let’s take a look at some of the clever billboard ads posted by the museum all around Vancouver that’ll leave us smiling—and thinking. The ads were created in collaboration with Rethink Canada.           And the most interesting of them all is the $6000 worth of Golden billboard covered in pure gold which even had guards posted 24/7 to secure the billboard for the two days it was put on display.   Image source: http://www.scienceworld.ca/ads

Now I feel smart! This would teach a lot of kids that science can be fun. Wish I could also see this in my place.
